Andreas Cossarzza: Discovering Immune Features During COVID-19 By Advanced Cytometry.

Andrea Cossarizza is a Full Professor of Pathology and Immunology, Vice President of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and current President of ISAC. He has been studying the molecular and cellular basis of several diseases that involve the immune system for 35 years. He is currently at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, and has provided the first contributions regarding the importance of cytometry in understanding the immune response to SARS-CoV-2. As of May 2020, he has published 332 papers on peer reviewed journal, has an H index of 79 and has received over 33,000 citations.

Webinar Description
The immune system is heavily involved in the pathogenesis of COVID-19, and its activation, which includes the so-called cytokine storm, and is the main force that drives the course of the infection. This webinar will present the most recent data on main changes that occur among different lymphocyte populations along with functional analysis of T cells, and discuss current and possible therapeutic approaches.

Learning Objectives
To learn which are the main changes that occur in the immune system during different phases of the infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19; to see which cytometric techniques have been used in the first studies that can be a tool to better understand changes that occur in the immune system during the infection and its recovery.

Who Should Attend
Researchers, clinicians, laboratory managers, and personnel involved in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 who want to kn
