Transferring Science to Industry: It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint
Europe has a strong reputation for scientific excellence. However, we still struggle to turn scientific discoveries into real-world products and services that benefit the economy and society. This gap is often referred to as the “European Paradox.” As a result, a huge amount of innovation remains unused—a missed opportunity we simply can’t afford, especially during tough economic times and with an aging population.
As a serial entrepreneur who has successfully helped bring several life science technologies from research labs into the business world, I want to share the challenges we faced along the way—and what we did (or should have done) to overcome them. My goal is to show why transferring knowledge and technology is important for all of us, and what key role scientists play in making that happen.
